We are looking for a security leader to grow the information security organization, collaboratively build a security program, and execute a strategy to secure New Relic’s exciting business and products. This position can be remote and will work with teams of security professionals across the US and Europe. As a key member of the Chief Information Security Officer’s staff, this role will visibly represent the security organization throughout the company and in the industry.

In addition to our Portland office, we are open to remote candidates who can work successfully with a primarily West Coast team from one of our approved locations.
What You’ll Do Help build and deliver on the CISO’s vision for the growth of information security programs such as security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, security testing, bug bounties, supplier security, workforce security enablement, and other information security functions. Develop and grow a global security organization that motivates team-members to face challenges, build connection, and deliver meaningful work. Coach and mentor managers and security professionals by understanding their career goals and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Assist with recruitment and actively foster work-life balance and self-care. Drive security collaboration with legal and data compliance teams to develop and execute policy, structure, and controls that get ahead of potential security risks related to product development, incident response, third parties & suppliers, mergers & acquisitions, data protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Build strong working relationships with product, engineering, and IT leaders to deliver on security initiatives and controls. Build security governance across the business, drive security decision making bodies, and collaboratively develop security and technology roadmaps. Provide leadership and confidence during information security incidents. Provide quality control and oversight for internal security score cards and executive security reports. Work with information security management to help define metrics that align with business initiatives and deliver to partners and leadership. Develop and present clear business and technology recommendations based on active balancing of threats, vulnerabilities, risk and current business needs and long-term goals. Your Qualifications 8+ years of technical hands-on security experience 5+ years of experience leading multiple managers and teams Excellent program planning, project management, and execution skills Experience with identifying and resolving potential security, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory issues as related to Software as a Service (SaaS) Strong familiarity with controls frameworks such as NIST SP800-53 Experience dealing with security compliance certifications, such as SOC2, ISO, FedRAMP, SOX, and PCI and global data privacy laws Proven leadership based on partnerships, trust, and collaboration with the people affected by the decisions we make A strong technical background involving SaaS cloud technologies and deep understanding of relevant risk mitigation and technical controls Outstanding written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate detailed, technical information in a manner comprehensible by individuals at varying degrees of experience and skill level Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
