The Energy Efficiency Engineering (E3) Internship has been created to help develop the next generation of energy efficiency engineers. This internship is designed to provide learning and growth opportunity for engineering students or recent engineering graduates from underrepresented, diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on BIPOC individuals. This internship is designed for students located in Portland, Oregon, but a remote position could be considered. It runs from approximately June to August 2022 (exact dates can be flexible). This internship will provide exposure to the day-to-day work of an Energy Efficiency Engineer, who works directly with our industrial clients to identify and study opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems. Our engineers take a consultative approach, gathering data, installing logging equipment, creating optimization models of industrial systems, and writing feasibility reports for energy efficiency projects, while leading overall management of projects. Qualifications We seek candidates with a strong desire and ability to learn, a passion for engineering, and a willingness to work hard. Additional criteria include: • Pursuing an undergraduate or master’s Engineering degree, or a recent graduate • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities demonstrated by educational or other work experience. • Ability to work independently, as well as under the guidance of others. • Basic project management and organizational skills. • Strong MS Excel and Analytics skills (MATLAB, Mathematica, VBA, etc.). You’ll need to know your way around formulas and have a logical approach to data analysis. Other Details The E3 Internship provides: • 24 hours per week for 8 weeks, at an hourly pay rate of $25/hr • A flexible schedule to accommodate academic coursework • This is a hybrid in-person and remote role. We hope to be in-person at the office as much as possible, but it may be partially or fully remote depending on evolving COVID restrictions, and we will ensure you have a fully functioning remote workstation to work from home. All computer equipment needed to perform the work remotely, including laptop, monitors, docking station, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and headset, will be provided.
